Sunshine Health Announces New and Updated Medicaid Benefits

Sunshine Health is committed to helping members get the care, resources, and support they need to improve their health and well-being. Effective June 1, 2026, Sunshine Health added and expanded several benefits and programs for eligible Medicaid members.

These updates include expanded supports for pregnant and postpartum members, enhanced digital and in-home care options, additional nutrition and meal supports, and programs designed to help members access care in ways that better fit their needs.

New and Expanded Benefits Effective June 1, 2026

As part of the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA)’s From the Start maternal health initiative, all health plans will cover unlimited doula services for pregnant members. Sunshine Health already offered this level of doula coverage and has added additional supports for eligible members, including:

  • Expanded access to Obstetrics (OB) mobile care
  • Enhanced access to remote patient monitoring
  • Non-emergency transportation with dependent minor children with advanced scheduling
  • Home delivered meals for high-risk pregnant members
  • 24/7 lactation support
  • A baby book with important information
  • Fatherhood engagement referral program for new dads

In addition, members may have access to the following support during and after pregnancy:

  • Fresh food support after delivery
  • Baby care bundles with diapers, wipes, and other essentials
  • A mom care package to support recovery
  • One crib per pregnancy
  • Increased camp scholarship for children benefit

Members may also access digital support, including:

  • Digital tools for mental health and emotional support
  • Remote monitoring for certain health conditions
  • Virtual and in-home support options
  • Digital support programs for youth and adults with behavioral health needs

Sunshine Health is also expanding support to help eligible members stay healthy, live more independently, and get help with everyday needs. Benefits may include:

  • Medically-tailored meals for diabetes and congestive heart failure
  • Ongoing nutrition support
  • Housing support for eligible members transitioning to the community
  • Companion device for members who qualify

Members may also be eligible for updated member rewards, including a $25 reward for completing their Health Quiz within 60 days of enrollment.

Benefit Changes Effective July 1, 2026

In order to offer all the new benefits listed above, effective July 1, 2026, Sunshine Health made the following benefit changes:

  • The over-the-counter (OTC) benefit amount was reduced to $25 per month, per household.
  • Tattoo removal services are no longer offered.
  • Peer support certification is no longer offered.
  • Expressive therapies (ET), including pet, art, music, and equine therapies, are no longer offered for adults ages 21 years and older.
