EVV Billed Units Must Match Billed Hours

Date: 07/15/26

Sunshine Health is letting providers who rely on Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) know that Florida third-party providers' billed units and hours must match the payer’s unit calculations for claims submitted through HHAeXchange.

Total billed hours are calculated based on:

  • When the visit starts
  • When the visit ends

What Does This Mean for EVV Providers?

  • Once the visit is imported, the system will compare the billed units to the system’s calculation.
  • Billed units must match the system’s calculation for a claim submission to be successful.
  • If the billed units and hours are higher than the system calculation, you will receive this message: Billed units and hours mismatch. Visit cannot be billed.

Ensure Successful Claims and Billing

  • A provider's agency management system must correctly calculate and round units before they submit visits through HHAeXchange for billing.
  • Mismatches must be fixed before visits are billed.

Note: These requirements only apply to third-party EVV providers using EDI Billing Rates.
