Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT): Training and Incentive for Providers

Date: 05/20/26

Sunshine Health recognizes that Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is essential to improving outcomes for members with substance use disorders (SUD) and supporting providers in delivering high-quality care.

The importance of MAT is why Sunshine Health offers providers an incentive program and training resources to help them help their patients.

MAT Incentive

Sunshine Health offers an additional $100 incentive payment per claim filed per pregnant member for MAT services delivered by appropriately trained Obstetrician-Gynecologists (OB/GYN) and Behavioral Health providers.

  • Code: Use billing code H0020 for methadone administration and other services related to opioid use disorder.
  • Modifier: Providers must include modifier (TH) to indicate MAT services associated with pregnancy.
  • Claims data will be used to confirm that qualifying MAT services were rendered.
  • Note: The incentive is paid in addition to the office visit reimbursement.
