Publix Recalls GreenWise Pear, Kiwi, Spinach & Pea Baby Food Due to Lead

Publix Super Markets Inc. is voluntarily recalling 4-ounce pouches of GreenWise Pear, Kiwi, Spinach & Pea Baby Food. The products, made by Bowman Andros LLC, P may be contaminated with toxic lead.
If your child has eaten the recalled GreenWise pouches, they need a blood test to check for lead as soon as possible. Call their doctor today, even if they don't have symptoms.

Lead Exposure Symptoms
There are no safe levels of lead in the blood. Lead is most harmful to children. It can lead to developmental delays and brain damage. Most children have no obvious symptoms right after lead exposure, but here are some to watch for:
- Short-Term Lead Exposure Symptoms: Headache, stomach/colic pain, vomiting and anemia.
- Long-Term Lead Exposure Symptoms: Irritability, lethargy, fatigue, constipation, trouble concentrating, tremors, weight loss and muscle aches, muscle weakness and/or muscle prickling/burning.

Publix found the problem during routine sampling and said there have been no reported cases of anyone who ate the food getting sick. The recall was announced on May 9, and the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is aware.
