Zelis Payment Platform Coming to Sunshine Health in December

Sunshine Health will transition to the Zelis financial platform to handle claims and non-claims payments starting in December and through early 2027.

Providers should start moving onto the Zelis platform now to ensure uninterrupted access to electronic payments and remittance information.

The new payment system will be available in phases for all payments related to Sunshine Health (Medicaid), Ambetter Health (Marketplace), and Wellcare (Medicare) health plans.

Providers can create a login now via the Zelis Client Login and Support Portal.

Go-Live Dates

  • Sunshine Health (Medicaid): December 2, 2026
  • Ambetter Health (Marketplace): December 7, 2026
  • Wellcare (Medicare): January 22, 2027

What about PaySpan?

Zelis acquired PaySpan. But when the transition is completed, the health plan will no longer issue payment to providers via PaySpan. Providers who use PaySpan should migrate to the Zelis platform before the November transition.

How Zelis Benefits Providers

Zelis offers our providers a more efficient way to receive claims payments and remittance data. Those options include:

  • Centene Claims Payment ePayment Center: Cost-free standard Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)/Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) that delivers payment via Automated Clearing House (ACH). Powered by Zelis.
  • Zelis Advanced Payments Platform (ZAPP) Edge: This tool brings ACH payments, payment data and performance insights from more than 550 payers together in a single portal
  • Virtual Card (VCC): One-time use virtual card.
  • Paper Check: Free delivery of paper checks via the U.S. Postal Service.

What Providers Need to Know

  • If you’re already enrolled with Zelis payments on ZAPP Edge to receive claim payments via ACH or VCC, no action is needed. Payments will be routed according to your current preferences under your Zelis agreement.
  • If you’re not enrolled with Zelis payments on ZAPP Edge, act now and select your preferred electronic payment method to avoid any disruption to your payment preferences. Here’s how to contact Zelis:
  • If you are not already enrolled with Zelis for VCC or ZAPP Edge and do not enroll in the free ePayment Center, paper checks can be mailed to the payment address on file.
  • If you receive non-claims payments, you may need to complete additional registration steps. Registration for non-claims payments can be completed via the Centene Claims Payment ePayment Center.
