Always Keep Your CAQH Email, Mailing Address Updated for Recredentialing
Date: 08/29/25
Sunshine Health reminds providers that they must ensure that only valid and up-to-date email addresses are listed in every section of their CAQH (Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare) ProView profile. Their primary mailing addresses must also be updated.
Sunshine Health’s main contact for all credentialing communications is the primary credentialing contact listed on each practitioner’s CAQH application. To ensure that all practitioners affiliated with your provider agreement remain credentialed without interruption, please keep all your email address fields and your mailing address within your CAQH profile up to date.
Sunshine Health Will Send Reminders 6 Months Before Recredentialing
- Sunshine Health will make multiple attempts to notify providers before they are due for recredentialing.
- The health plan will start attempting to contact providers six months before recredentialing is due.
- The health plan will contact providers via the email address listed as the primary credentialing contact on their CAQH profile.
- The Credentialing team will make three more attempts to contact providers using their CAQH-listed email before recredentialing is due.
- If the health plan doesn’t receive a response with the required documentation within 15 days from the final three contact attempts, recredentialing will be denied.
- Providers who do not know their credentialing end date should contact their Provider Engagement Account Manager (PEAM).
- Failure to respond to recredentialing requests in a timely manner may result in a disruption of network participation. Affected providers may be required to submit a new provider enrollment application, which can take up to 60 days to process.
Why Your CAQH Contact Info Matters
- Credentialing Communication: Health plans and organizations use CAQH to contact providers during the credentialing and recredentialing processes. An outdated email or mailing address could delay or disrupt this process — and affect credentialing.
- Compliance and Notifications: Important compliance updates, reminders and alerts may be sent via email or mail. Missing messages could also cause a lapse in credentialing or other administrative issues.
- Data Integrity: Ensuring consistency and accuracy across all sections of your CAQH profile reduces the risk of administrative errors.
- Security and Privacy: Outdated or incorrect emails or mailing addresses could result in sensitive information being sent to the wrong recipient, posing a privacy risk.
Best Practices for Managing CAQH Email Addresses
- Review: Regularly review your CAQH profile. We recommend you do so quarterly.
- Update: Ensure that all sections where email addresses and primary mailing addresses are listed are updated — not just the primary contact section.
- Avoid: Do not use shared or generic emails, unless they are secure and consistently monitored. Do not use outdated mailing addresses, or an address where the mail is not regularly checked.
- Remember: Providers should use a professional email address that is regularly monitored. Please do not use personal email addresses or email accounts you cannot directly access.
CAQH Access: If your practitioner’s specialty requires credentialing, please ensure that CAQH access has been granted to Centene Corporation and that all information has been attested within the last 120 days. Our Credentialing department will retrieve them directly from your CAQH profile.
