Medicaid

State-sponsored Medicaid benefits are for low-income families and pregnant women to improve the health of people who might otherwise go without medical care for themselves and their children. Sunshine Health is a Florida Medicaid health plan that has been providing services in Florida since 2009. You have a choice for Medicaid coverage.

Child Welfare

Sunshine Health offers a statewide, specialized and comprehensive health plan for children in or adopted from Florida’s child welfare system.  Together with our community-based care partners, we are improving the health and well-being of these children through coordinated care, services and support.

Children's Medical Services (CMS) Health Plan

Children’s Medical Services (CMS) Health Plan, operated by Sunshine Health on behalf of the Florida Department of Health, provides managed care services to children who have special healthcare needs that require extensive preventive and ongoing care. There are two versions of the CMS Health Plan - Medicaid Children's Medical Services Health Plan and KidCare Children's Medical Services Health Plan. Benefits and services depend on which health plan your child is enrolled in.

Medicare

People age 65 and older, under 65 with certain disabilities, and any age with End-Stage Renal Disease – ESRD (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant) may be eligible for coverage through Wellcare.

Comprehensive Long Term Care (LTC)

Sunshine Health is the largest Comprehensive Long Term Care managed care organization in Florida. We offer comprehensive physical and behavioral health services and programs to support our members’ ability to “age in place” and remain independent for as long as possible. Long Term Care is for Medicaid enrollees 18 years and older who require a Nursing Facility level of care. This doesn’t mean members must reside in nursing homes. We help members stay in the community whenever possible with long-term services and supports. We help can help members transition from nursing facilities into a home setting of their choice.

Serious Mental Illness (SMI)

Sunshine Health’s Serious Mental Illness (SMI) Plan is designed for people living with serious mental illness. We help members take control of every part of their health by offering integrated medical and behavioral health services that address whole health. Our Care Managers understand the unique challenges SMI Specialty Plan members face, help them coordinate needed care, and connect members to social support services like access to healthy foods and secure housing. To enroll, you must be eligible for Florida Medicaid and be diagnosed with, or in treatment for, a serious mental illness.

Health Insurance Marketplace

The Health Insurance Marketplace is an online shopping mall of healthcare plans. Sunshine Health's plan is called Ambetter. Ambetter from Sunshine Health offers affordable healthcare coverage for individuals and families. Depending on your family size and income, you may qualify for help to pay your monthly premium. Additionally, since the American Rescue Act Plan’s enactment, many Marketplace plans – including some Ambetter from Sunshine Health plans – are available for $0 a month for qualified applicants and current members.
