Sunshine Health Announces New State Legislative and Government Affairs Team

SUNRISE, FL – Sunshine Health, a subsidiary of Centene Corporation, welcomes two new executives to its team to lead state government affairs in Tallahassee.  Tamela I. Perdue and Joshua Spagnola assumed leadership of the government relations function for the company in July.  Both have extensive experience in state government and regulatory affairs and share a commitment to ensuring healthcare quality and coordinated care for health plan members.

Tamela I. Perdue joined Sunshine Health as Senior Vice President of Legislative and Government Affairs.  Tammy has more than 20 years of experience representing Florida’s business community before all branches of state government. For the past decade, Perdue served as General Counsel to Associated Industries of Florida (AIF).  Prior to her employment with AIF, Perdue was a partner in a statewide law firm specializing in insurance defense, administrative law and government consulting.

Joshua Spagnola joined the company as Vice President of Legislative and Government Affairs. Prior to joining Sunshine Health, Spagnola served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Affairs Director for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).  Prior to his time at AHCA, Spagnola served as the Health and Human Services Policy Chief in Governor Rick Scott’s administration and Legislative Affairs Director at the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

“We are proud to welcome Tammy and Josh to the Sunshine Health team,” said Chris Paterson, CEO and plan president for Sunshine Health. “Their previous experience, guidance and counsel will help us continue to contribute to healthcare policy in our state. Sunshine Health’s leadership team in Tallahassee is a critical component to achieving high-quality care for our more than 600,000 members across the state.”
