Providers: Action Required Regarding 2020 CMS Mandatory Trainings

Date: 06/26/20

Sunrise, Florida

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require that Medicare Advantage Organizations inform network providers and practitioners about the requirements to complete annual training. The 2020 required trainings are:

  • Model of Care (MOC)
  • General Compliance (Compliance)
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA)

Effective Jan. 1, 2020, for General Compliance and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse: First-Tier, Downstream, and Related Entities (FDR), as well as delegated entities, will be required to complete training via the Medicare Learning Network (MLN) website. The trainings must be completed by each individual, not one person representing the entire group. Providers, practitioners and administrators must complete the training within 90 days of contracting or becoming a delegated entity. Each individual must submit an annual certificate of completion to Sunshine Health.

*Note: FDRs meeting the FWA training and certification requirements, through Parts A or B of the Medicare program or via accreditation as a supplier of DMEPOS, are exempt from the FWA training. General Compliance training remains a requirement.

To complete Compliance and FWA training and access your certificate of completion:

For Medicare Advantage Model of Care (MOC), visit Sunshine Health MOC Provider Training (PDF) to complete and submit the attestation form.  The form can be submitted online and must include all tax identification numbers (TIN) that you represent.
