What

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma that includes participation by their parents or caregivers. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences.

Who may attend

Only clinicians who meet all the following criteria are eligible to attend:

  • Contracted in-network provider with Sunshine Health or in the credentialing process.
  • Master's degree or above in a mental health discipline.
  • Professional licensure in home state (or under supervision for licensure).
  • Actively treating children/adolescents in your state's foster care/child welfare system. (You do not have to have a foster child on your current caseload, but you need to regularly have the potential of treating a child in foster care.)
  • Can commit to and participate in the follow-up TF-CBT Consultation Call Program consisting of twice-monthly, one-hour group conference calls for six months.

Pre-training requirements due by Friday, October 17

  • Register for the course. Scroll to the bottom of the registration page to find the pre-training requirements tab.
  • Complete the Medical University of South Carolina’s online TF-CBTWeb 2.0 training (11 hours of CE credit) and upload your certificate of completion. This training costs $35. You are required to upload your certificate of completion. The course takes 9-11 hours to complete, so we encourage you to start early. Please note that you may upload an older certificate. You do not need to take the course again if you have already completed it in the past.
  • Complete the Child and Adolescent Trauma Screen (CATS) Assignment. It takes 20-25 minutes to complete. There is no need to upload your certificate of completion as we can see who has completed the assignment.

Cost

The two-day training and follow-up consultation calls are provided at no cost as part of our continuing effort to help clinicians treating children in foster care enhance their skills and utilize the best evidence-based tools available.

Your only cost will be $35 for taking the Medical University of South Carolina’s online TF-CBTWeb 2.0 Training if you have not already done so.
