On April 22, 2024, UnitedHealth Group issued a press release, providing an update on the Change Healthcare cybersecurity incident that occurred on Feb. 21, 2024. Given the size of the data impacted, the investigation to determine whose data is impacted is expected to take several months. UnitedHealth Group believes this situation will impact “a substantial proportion of people in America” and is offering immediate credit monitoring and identity protection services, as well as a dedicated contact center to address questions. New Member ID Cards

We sent you a new Member ID card in the mail for 2024 because we updated the pharmacy information on the front of the card. The Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) has changed to Express Scripts. 

What You Should Do Now

As of January 1, 2024, please use your new member ID card. You will need the new card to get prescriptions at the pharmacy.

  • Destroy your old ID card. It stopped working as of January 1, 2024. 
  • Make sure your pharmacy is still in our network. You can check this on our Find a Provider tool.
  • Please keep your ID card with you at all times.

If You Lose Your Member ID Card Or Did Not Receive Your New One In The Mail

Sign in or create an online Secure Member Portal account. Once logged in, you can:

  • Save an image of your ID card to your phone, tablet or computer
  • Request a new ID card by mail
  • Or, print out your member ID card

This FAQ provides additional information on the migration of our PBM services from CVS to Express Scripts.

Express Scripts as our PBM will bring increased levels of transparency and value to provide the highest level of quality at the lowest possible cost to our members.

There will be no change in service for our members, although you will receive a new ID card. We will continue to provide the same member-focused care and support as we do today. 

Yes, Amazon is part of the Express Scripts network. 

No, CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy is out of network, effective January 1, 2024. If you wish to continue using mail order in 2024, you must switch to Express Scripts Pharmacy. Most open prescription refills will be automatically transferred to Express Scripts.

Members have a choice to use other pharmacies that offer home delivery, but Express Scripts Pharmacy is the preferred mail order pharmacy for our health plan. 

For existing mail order users:

  • Most open prescription refills will be automatically transferred to Express Scripts
  • Refills for controlled drugs, such as Alprazolam, Clonazepam, Pregabalin, Tramadol, Zolpidem, etc., will not automatically transfer to Express Scripts Pharmacy; members must request a new prescription from their provider

For new mail order prescriptions, members may do one of the following:

  • Ask your provider to electronically submit or fax a new prescription to Express Scripts Pharmacy
  • Visit Express Scripts to register or sign in, then follow the guided steps to request a prescription
  • Call Express Scripts Pharmacy, who will contact your provider for a new prescription to be filled via mail order
  • Mail a Home Delivery Order Form (available on the Express Scripts website) directly to Express Scripts Pharmacy
