School Specialist Program

Did you know that Sunshine Health has dedicated School Specialists who can help you navigate the school system?

They can work with you and your child’s school to request an evaluation for special services and supports that can help your child succeed.

What school specialists do

✓  Teach you about the Florida public school system and your child’s educational rights

✓ Empower you with tools and information to advocate for your child

✓  Form relationships with schools and school districts as Sunshine Health’s education experts

✓  Work with your child’s care team to coordinate school-based care

✓ Attend school-based meetings to provide guidance and support

If your child needs school-related resources or support, please fill out the School Specialist Request Form and your local school specialist will reach out to address your needs.

You can also ask your child’s Care Manager for a referral to the School Specialist Program or contact Sunshine Health Member Services at 1-866-796-0530 (TTY 1-800-955-8770), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern, for more information.
